Mass brawl at Yerevan council of elders meeting - video

A mass brawl occurred during a meeting of the Yerevan Council of Elders on Tuesday. The atmosphere heated up after representatives of the "Mother Armenia" faction accused the ruling "Civil Contract" of stealing votes in the recent parliamentary elections (some representatives of "Mother Armenia" participated in the elections on the list of "Prosperous Armenia" of billionaire Gagik Tsarukyan - ed.).

In response, the deputy mayor and member of the ruling "Civil Contract" demanded that member of the opposition "Mother Armenia" faction Gevork Stepanyan leave the premises, incidentally "reminding" his opponent that the leader of the "Mother Armenia" bloc Andranik Tevanyan is accused of treason.

Stepanyan objected to this, noting that there is no judicial act confirming the fact of treason. After a brief verbal polemic and shouting, one of the members of the ruling faction threw a bottle in the direction of Manuk Sukiasyan, head of the "Mother Armenia" faction, after which a fight broke out.
