Zelenskyy will not go to Gdansk for Ukraine conference amid scandal with Nawrocki

President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelenskyy will not travel to the Polish city of Gdansk for the conference on the restoration of Ukraine (URC-2026); the Ukrainian delegation will be led by Prime Minister Yulia Sviridenko.

This became known from a statement by Sviridenko on her social media.

"I will head the Ukrainian delegation and our work in general at URC-2026 in Gdansk. The Ukrainian team at the conference will include representatives of Ukrainian business, heads of state-owned companies, representatives of our communities from across the country, and, of course, officials and parliamentarians. There are many events of various levels that should strengthen Ukraine, Poland, all our partners, and Europe," she stated.

The prime minister noted that the event is expected to produce "specific agreements that will work for Ukraine's defense capability and resilience and expand economic cooperation with partners."

A number of important agreements with partners are planned to be signed, particularly in the energy sector.

Prior to this, the chancellery of the president of Poland stated that it has information about Zelenskyy's decision not to go to Gdansk following the scandal surrounding Karol Nawrocki's revocation of the highest Polish state award presented to him in response to the naming of one of the units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in honor of the heroes of the UPA (Ukrainian Insurgent Army, which operated during the Second World War).
