EU to consult Armenia on construction of roads along border with Turkey
The European Union intends to provide advisory assistance to Armenia in the construction of roads to checkpoints on the border with Turkey, said Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure of Armenia David Khudatyan.
The Ministry of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure of Armenia signed a memorandum of intent with the European Commission and the European Investment Bank.
"The initiative provides for assistance in preparatory work on the strategic road directions Akhurik—Kayan and Margara—Kayan, which will connect border checkpoints (on the border with Turkey – ed.) with the road network of Armenia," wrote Khudatyan.
It is noted that at the first stage, the European Investment Bank will provide Armenia with advisory support to determine the scope of necessary research and develop solutions for the specified road projects, the purpose of which is to promote the development of regional transport links and strengthen the country's role as a reliable transport and logistics hub.
