Trump: Iran is 'on the hook' for me
Iranian authorities are ready to make concessions to US President Donald Trump on virtually all issues. The American leader himself expressed confidence in this on Truth Social.
"Now Iran is 'on the hook' with me, it is on its last legs, ready to make any concessions and for the first time in decades feels a damn huge respect for the United States and their president - me, and the US Senate [Congress] decides to hold an ill-timed and meaningless vote on the war powers law, signaling to the world's main sponsor of terrorism that the United States does not like what I am doing with them (Tehran), and that I should stop it, and thereby providing assistance and support to the enemy," the head of state wrote, commenting on the senators' adoption of a resolution calling on the president to cease military actions against Iran.
He added that during the vote, the resolution was supported by "four failed Republicans." "These senators have just made my task more difficult, but I will complete it one way or another, because I always do what I undertake to do!" Trump concluded.
Earlier, the Senate, following the House of Representatives of Congress, adopted a resolution calling on the Washington administration to cease military actions against Iran. In this case, we are talking about a document that has no legal force and is advisory in nature. In such resolutions, legislators express their position. The executive branch of the US government has the right to ignore them. The document emphasizes that Trump should "withdraw US armed forces from combat operations against the Islamic Republic of Iran." This must be done provided that combat operations against Iran have not been approved by Congress, and also if the presence of these forces is not necessary to protect the US or their allies from an attack.
