Israel approves resolution recognizing so-called 'Armenian genocide'

The Israeli cabinet approved a resolution recognizing the so-called 'Armenian genocide' events at the beginning of the 20th century in the Ottoman Empire. This was reported by Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Saar, who had put forward this initiative several days earlier.

In a post on X, Saar thanked Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for his support on this issue and stated that Israel 'fulfilled its moral duty by recognizing the historical truth and rejecting attempts to deny it.'

'The Armenian 'genocide' is still the object of an institutionalized campaign to deny and downplay it, including manipulative rewriting of history, primarily by the Turkish government,' Saar said at a cabinet meeting, according to a press release from his department. 'I believe that the time has come for Israel as a Jewish state to officially take this position.'
