Turkey raises fee for ships passing through Bosporus and Dardanelles by 15%

Turkey from July 1 raises the fee for transit of international ships through the Bosporus and Dardanelles straits by almost 15%, according to a decision of the ministry of transport and infrastructure.

The fee will be increased from $5.83 to $6.7 per ton. The calculation will be made based on the net tonnage of the vessel.

This rate will be in effect until June 30, 2027 inclusive.

According to the ministry, revenues from ship transit amounted to $223 million in the period from July 2024 to June 2025. It is expected that for the year that ended in June, they increased to $254 million.

In 2025, over 40.17 thousand ships passed through the Bosporus and Dardanelles.
