France names date for presidential elections
The dates for France's 2027 presidential elections were agreed at a cabinet meeting held on Wednesday.
As reported at a briefing by Delegate Minister for Energy and official government spokesperson Maud Brejon, the first round is scheduled for April 18.
"The dates of the upcoming presidential elections were proposed this morning. After consultations with all political parties, it was decided that they will take place on Sunday, April 18, 2027, and also on Sunday, May 2, 2027," she said.
