Tragedy in Pakistan: bus falls into ravine, dozens killed
At least 24 people were killed and 8 injured when a bus fell into a ravine in southwestern Pakistan.
The newspaper Dawn reported this, citing police.
According to law enforcement, the incident occurred in a mountainous area on the border of Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa provinces. The injured were taken to the hospital with injuries. According to the Daily Pakistan newspaper, rescue teams continue the operation to evacuate the wounded and provide assistance to the victims; the work is complicated by the terrain.
Police told Dawn that the bus left the provincial capital of Balochistan, the city of Quetta, with 36 passengers and was heading to Peshawar, the administrative center of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province. Passengers from another bus that broke down on the road boarded the vehicle along the way. Immediately after crossing the border of the two provinces, the vehicle fell into a ravine.
