Kazakhstan strengthens border control to prevent fuel exports

Kazakhstan authorities have strengthened border control to prevent the illegal export of fuels and lubricants (GSL).

Mobile teams are conducting round-the-clock patrols of border areas, inspecting tanker trucks and fuel trucks as part of the risk management system.

This was reported by Vice Minister of Finance Yerzhan Birzhanov at a government meeting on the situation in the GSL market, according to TASS.

According to the press service of the Cabinet of Ministers, 61 attempts to export fuel in additional tanks and canisters totaling more than 3 tons were prevented at checkpoints over the past two days.

Birzhanov also said that state revenue authorities are analyzing the activities of 62 gas stations and 22 mini-refineries where an anomalous increase in sales volumes was recorded.

Interior Minister Yerzhan Sadenov, in turn, announced increased control in border areas. According to him, the number of employees involved in in-depth inspections has been increased.
