In France, the load on hospitals and medical personnel has sharply increased due to the number of incoming patients affected by the abnormal heat — medics compare this load to the coronavirus pandemic.

This is reported by BFM TV.

The heat, exhausting both patients and medical workers, increases the load on hospitals, the article notes.

As one of the publication's interlocutors said, there is a feeling that they have again "returned to COVID". These days, medics are recording an increase in the number of patients with dehydration and heat strokes. The management of a number of hospitals has purchased mobile air conditioners to cool hospital premises — in some of them the temperature reached 36 ℃, and also prepared ice supplies for patients with hypothermia.

Over the past few days, the influx of patients has increased by an average of 10-15%. In France, Belgium and the Netherlands, the number of victims of the abnormal heat has reached 3.7 thousand.

Earlier, an expert calculated that the European economy lost about €5 billion due to the abnormal heat.
