Von der Leyen: EU military budget for 2028-2034 will exceed €200 billion
Military appropriations in the seven-year EU budget for 2028-2034 will exceed €200 billion.
European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen stated this while speaking at the Defense Industry Forum on the sidelines of the NATO summit in Ankara.
"The new multiyear EU budget will include appropriations of €131 billion for military capabilities and €71 billion for military mobility (modernization of roads, bridges, tunnels for the transfer of military cargo and heavy military equipment across Europe — TASS note)," von der Leyen said.
She also recalled EU programs to support the military spending of EU member states, which, in her opinion, could attract up to €950 billion across the EU for military needs by 2030.
The seven-year EU budget for 2028-2034 will be the first in the history of the community with such a significant volume of military expenditures.
