Number of deaths in Venezuela earthquake exceeds 3.6 thousand
The death toll from the devastating earthquake in Venezuela has reached 3,685.
This was reported in his Telegram channel by the chairman of the National Assembly (parliament) of the Bolivarian Republic Jorge Rodriguez.
According to the daily government summary he provided, 16,740 people were injured, 17,907 lost their homes. 190 buildings were completely destroyed, 856 received significant damage. During search and rescue operations, 6,462 people were saved, 25,970 received treatment in hospitals and medical institutions. Assistance was provided to 86,794 families, 9,603 tons of food were transferred to the victims.
The earthquake occurred in Venezuela on the evening of June 24. With an interval of about 40 seconds, two series of tremors with magnitudes of 7.2 and 7.5 were recorded. Their epicenters were located 10 km apart in the state of Yaracuy.
