Coffin with body of Ali Khamenei delivered to Iraq

The coffin with the body of Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, who died earlier this year, has been delivered to Iraq, where large-scale farewell ceremonies will continue, Press TV reported on Tuesday.

"The plane with the coffin of the late leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, has landed in Iraq for burial ceremonies in the country," the TV channel said in a report.

Mourning events in memory of Khamenei began in Iran on July 3. Khamenei will be buried on Thursday in his hometown of Mashhad in Iran.

Khamenei was killed during a U.S. and Israeli strike on Tehran at the end of February.
