British singer Bonnie Tyler dies

British singer Bonnie Tyler has died at the age of 75.

This is reported by the BBC.

“Bonnie’s family and team announce with deep sorrow that the singer unexpectedly passed away last night in a hospital in Portugal as a result of an illness,” the statement published on the performer’s official website said.

Tyler’s relatives promised to publish another statement related to the singer’s death and also asked to respect the privacy of the artist’s relatives.

Bonnie Tyler — real name Gaynor Hopkins — was born in June 1951 in the British village of Skewen. The singer’s musical career started in 1976 with the composition “Lost in France.” The artist gained the greatest popularity in the 1980s–1990s; her hits “Total Eclipse of the Heart” and “Holding Out for a Hero” are widely known. In 2013, the singer performed at Eurovision, representing the United Kingdom with the song “Believe In Me.”

At the end of May 2026, Bonnie Tyler was urgently hospitalized in a hospital in southern Portugal with a severe intestinal infection.
