Pashinyan speaks about Alen Simonyan's future in the team

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan commented on the future political activities of National Assembly Speaker Alen Simonyan, who earlier decided to refuse the deputy mandate of the new convocation.

While speaking with journalists, the head of government emphasized that Simonyan remains unconditionally part of the ruling political force, but his specific role within the team is still being discussed, Armenian media report.

"There is no need to talk about Alen Simonyan's political fate. We are talking about the format of his participation in the future; we are discussing this now and thinking about it, and if there are decisions, we will announce them," the prime minister stated.

Recall that Alen Simonyan earlier announced his refusal of a mandate in the 9th convocation parliament, expressing a desire to temporarily rest from intensive legislative work. At the same time, he emphasized that he does not intend to leave active politics and sees his future activities exclusively within the Civil Contract party led by Nikol Pashinyan. The ruling party has already nominated Ruben Rubinyan for the post of chairman of the newly elected parliament.
