CENTCOM refutes reports that ships pass through Strait of Hormuz only via Iranian route

The US Armed Forces Central Command (CENTCOM) has refuted reports from Iranian state media that the transit of commercial vessels through the Strait of Hormuz is currently only along the route approved by Tehran.

"Iran does not control the Strait of Hormuz," CENTCOM said. They emphasized that the US armed forces are providing all possible assistance for the safe passage of commercial vessels through the strait.

"Since the beginning of May, US troops have facilitated the successful transit of more than 800 commercial vessels and 380 million barrels of crude oil through this vital international trade corridor," the command emphasized.

Meanwhile, the day before, Bloomberg reported that against the backdrop of the latest US strikes on Iran, the passage of commercial vessels through the Strait of Hormuz has practically completely stopped.
