In Italy one of the largest cocaine shipments found, 770 kg hidden in bananas
Italian financial police and customs service conducted a large-scale special operation in the port of Vado Ligure, seizing 770 kilograms of cocaine.
The market value of the shipment is estimated at approximately 250 million euros. The publication RMF 24 reported on one of the largest cocaine shipments.
The highest-purity drugs were skillfully hidden among banana pallets inside a refrigerated container that arrived from Ecuador. The smugglers were counting on disguising them with fruit, but the vigilance of law enforcement officers thwarted their plans.
This seizure became one of the largest anti-drug operations in the port in recent years and a serious blow to eurotrafficking. Just three weeks earlier, in the same Vado Ligure, services intercepted another 340 kg of cocaine. In response to the increasing cases, the authorities promise to radically strengthen port control.
