Kremlin does not have information about meeting of Russian and German representatives in Baku
Press secretary of Russian President Dmitry Peskov said that he has no information about a meeting between representatives of Russia and Germany in Baku.
"No, I have no information about this meeting, so I have nothing to tell you," the Kremlin representative said at a briefing, TASS reports.
Earlier, the fact of this meeting was confirmed by Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev.
"We learned about this from The Times newspaper. We did not know about it. Of course, having carefully considered the article published in such an authoritative publication, we conducted an investigation, and yesterday, before departing for Berlin, I requested information from the State Border Service of Azerbaijan about whether the persons whose names are mentioned in The Times newspaper were simultaneously in Azerbaijan. I can tell you that this information was confirmed. On July 12, on the Berlin-Baku flight, two well-known individuals arrived in Baku — there is information that one of them was the head of Mrs. Merkel's administration — Mr. Pofalla and Mr. Platzeck. On July 14, they returned from Baku to Berlin. At the same time, on the 12th, former Russian Prime Minister Mr. Zubkov and head of the Russian Presidential Council for the Development of Civil Society Mr. Fadeev arrived in Baku from Moscow, one of whom left Baku on the 13th, and the other on the 14th. We have not received any information on this matter either from Germany or from Russia. That is, our territory was simply used without our knowledge. Regarding whether such a meeting took place or not, I cannot say anything specific, because we did not see it. However, the flight statistics I provided give grounds to say that such a secret meeting was held in Baku. If this meeting puts an end to the Ukrainian-Russian war, we will, of course, welcome it," the president of Azerbaijan stated in Berlin at a joint briefing following negotiations with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, answering a question.
