Ankara is concerned: the war between Russia and Ukraine is increasingly affecting civilian shipping
Turkey is once again calling on the parties to the Russian-Ukrainian conflict and all interested participants to take urgent and concrete measures to ensure the safety of shipping in the Black Sea following a drone attack on two civilian vessels belonging to Turkish shipowners.
This was stated in a statement by Turkey's Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
It is noted that on the evening of August 3, the vessels Yaşar and Nadezhda came under attack by unmanned aerial vehicles after leaving the port of Novorossiysk. As a result of the incident, several crew members were injured, including citizens of Turkey.
Ankara emphasized that the safety of Turkish citizens remains the top priority, and their condition is under the constant supervision of the authorities.
The Turkish foreign policy agency also expressed serious concern that the war between Russia and Ukraine, despite Ankara's repeated warnings, is increasingly spreading to civilian shipping in the Black Sea.
Turkey's Ministry of Foreign Affairs warned that without preventive measures, further escalation in the region could lead to serious negative consequences, including a threat to global food security.
