In eastern India 13 people die from lightning strikes
At least 13 people died in the eastern Indian state of Jharkhand as a result of lightning strikes.
Local police reported this.
"Of the 13 dead, 8 people were in Giridih district, 3 in Dumka, and 2 in Latehar," police said.
In January, the Indian Meteorological Department reported that in 2025 more than 200 deaths were recorded in Jharkhand state, mainly caused by "lightning strikes during thunderstorms."
