NY Post learns of Meghan Markle's desire to take Harris' seat in the U.S. Senate

Meghan Markle wanted her candidacy to be considered for Kamala Harris' seat in the U.S. Senate after the 2020 election, and later, together with her husband, British Prince Harry, sought a meeting with President Joe Biden at the White House.

This is reported by the newspaper The New York Post, citing sources.

According to the publication, several weeks before Biden's victory in the election, Markle requested a meeting with California Governor Gavin Newsom, since she wanted to seek Harris' seat after her election as vice president. At the same time, one of the sources denies that Markle sought an appointment to the Senate.

In the end, Newsom appointed Alex Padilla to the vacant seat.

The newspaper also claims that in 2021 Harry and Meghan asked to arrange a meeting for them with Biden in the Oval Office and to provide them with the Blair House residence, which is intended, among other things, for foreign leaders during official visits. White House staff turned down the request, fearing diplomatic complications in relations with the British government and the royal family.

The New York Post notes that the couple also enlisted former members of Barack Obama's administration to establish contacts with the White House. At the same time, representatives of Harry and Meghan deny that they asked for a meeting in the Oval Office or accommodation at Blair House.
