Zakharova: Moscow cannot be indifferent to pressure on pro-Russian politicians in Armenia
Moscow does not interfere in Armenia's internal affairs, but it cannot remain indifferent to the events taking place there, said official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova, commenting on the pressure being exerted on Armenian opposition figures.
“Unfortunately, the negative trend of persecuting political figures who advocate preserving and strengthening relations with the Russian Federation persists in Armenia,” Zakharova noted during a briefing.
“The new so-called ‘friends’ of the Armenian authorities continue to turn a blind eye to everything that in any way contributes to achieving the EU's goals with regard to Armenia, namely — to cynically use the Republic, its potential and its citizens in their confrontation with Russia,” the representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry said.
