Peru severs diplomatic relations with Iran
The government of Peru has decided to sever diplomatic relations with Iran.
This was reported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the South American country.
"The Government of the Republic of Peru has decided to break off diplomatic relations with the Islamic Republic of Iran," the statement said.
The Foreign Ministry specified that this step is connected, in particular, with the situation in the Middle East and Iranian actions in the Strait of Hormuz. "Peru's decision to break off diplomatic relations with Iran does not entail a rupture of consular relations," the agency noted.
