U.S. wants to double oil production in Venezuela

The United States expects that the energy agreements being prepared for signing with Venezuela will make it possible to double the country's oil production volumes over the next few years.

This was announced by U.S. Energy Secretary Chris Wright upon his arrival in Venezuela.

According to him, the growth in oil production could also lead to a decline in global fuel prices. The secretary is counting on an expansion of refining capacity both in the United States and in other countries that will work with Venezuelan oil.

Venezuela's oil production peaked in the late 1990s, when the figure exceeded 3 million barrels per day. After that, volumes fell sharply due to a lack of investment, ineffective management, and U.S. sanctions. In recent months, production has amounted to about 1.1–1.2 million barrels per day.
