A lawsuit for billions: former deputy mayor's assets confiscated in Yerevan

Armenia has launched the process of confiscating property of illegal origin from former Yerevan Vice Mayor Karen Davtyan and persons affiliated with him.

The corresponding lawsuit filed by the prosecutor's office has been accepted for proceedings, Armenian Telegram channels report.

The supervisory agency is demanding that 14 real estate properties (including 9 units in the Kentron administrative district), 8 vehicles, stakes in 10 companies, the right to purchase another property in the center of the capital, as well as funds totaling more than 229 million drams be turned over to the state.

Karen Davtyan held the post of Yerevan vice mayor since 2006. Prior to that appointment, he headed a state institution responsible for implementing the "Northern Avenue" and "Cascade" urban development projects during the period when Yervand Zakharyan was mayor of the capital.
