Russia has barred entry to about 200,000 foreigners

Russia's Interior Ministry has barred entry to about 200,000 foreigners who violated Russian laws.

This was announced by First Deputy Interior Minister of the Russian Federation and head of the Migration Service of Russia's Interior Ministry Andrei Kikot at a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

"As part of preventive work, our units have barred entry to around 200,000 — to be precise, 197,000 — foreigners who committed offenses and broke the law here. We restricted their entry for a certain amount of time," Kikot said.

According to him, the number of cases of expulsion of foreign nationals has grown by 85%. "We expelled around 100,000, of whom 75,000 were expelled forcibly," the head of the Migration Service of Russia's Interior Ministry reported.

Kikot also noted the strengthening of work on the quality of checks of documents submitted when processing the status of foreigners staying in Russia. "We have detected 10 times more forged documents that provide knowingly false information," he said.
