Macron's rating in France hits a low for his entire presidency
The approval rating of French President Emmanuel Macron among the country's residents has fallen to 16% — the lowest figure for his entire time as head of state, according to a joint study by the company Ipsos and the CESI network of private engineering universities.
A total of 1,000 French citizens over the age of 18 took part in the survey.
According to the study's results, Macron's approval rating has fallen by 6 percentage points since July 2026. At the same time, the number of respondents who spoke negatively about the president's work has risen by 7 percentage points since July — to 81%.
The approval rating also fell to 20% for French Prime Minister Sébastien Lecornu, reaching the lowest level of his entire career — he has headed the government since September 9, 2025.
The largest number of those surveyed (54%) expressed concern about purchasing power. The French are also concerned about the future of the social sphere (40%) and the environment (31%).
The next presidential elections in France will be held in the spring of 2027. At that time, Macron's second term as head of state also comes to an end, and he will not be able to run for a third time. In April, Macron stated that after leaving the Élysée Palace he would no longer be involved in politics.
