Western Azerbaijan Community urges Armenia to refrain from harming the peace process
The Western Azerbaijan Community (WAC) has strongly condemned Armenia's harsh reaction to the recent visit of the diplomatic corps accredited in Azerbaijan to Karabakh and East Zangezur.
"We regard this as open disrespect for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of our country," the WAC statement said.
"At a time when Azerbaijan and Armenia are moving closer to peace, such destructive steps deal a blow to the peace process, undermine mutual trust, and pour water on the mill of revanchist forces. The Western Azerbaijan Community considers this approach by Armenia an attempt to interfere in Azerbaijan's internal affairs and a step aimed at reigniting irredentism. At the same time, this testifies to Armenia's insincerity in the process of peacebuilding and normalization," the statement emphasized.
The WAC believes that, instead of putting forward unfounded claims regarding Azerbaijan's sovereign territories and issues of its history, Armenian society should first and foremost focus on ending the denial, distortion, and destruction of the rich cultural and historical heritage created by the Azerbaijani people on the territory of Armenia. This would be a practical step serving the establishment of lasting peace between the two countries and societies.
