Hikmet Hajiyev: The conflict between Iran and the U.S. can be resolved through diplomacy
Hajiyev noted that Azerbaijan, despite continuing regional tensions, considers a diplomatic settlement of the conflict between Iran and the United States possible.
According to him, Baku supports negotiations and is ready to help reduce tensions in the region.
This was stated by the assistant to the president of Azerbaijan, Hikmet Hajiyev, in an interview with NewsMax.
Separately, the assistant to the president of Azerbaijan characterized Baku's relations with Israel as a strategic partnership. According to him, cooperation between the two countries covers defense and technology, education, agriculture, energy, trade, and security issues.
Hajiyev also emphasized the historical ties between the Jewish community and Azerbaijan. "I am more than proud to state that in my country there has not been a single case of anti-Semitism, and the Jewish community leads a vibrant and dynamic life in Azerbaijan," he said.
Touching on Russia's war against Ukraine, Hajiyev stated that Baku maintains historical relations with both countries and views what is happening as a tragedy.
He highly praised Trump's efforts to find a settlement through negotiations and stated that Aliyev's ability to maintain dialogue with both Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky could make Azerbaijan useful if the parties turn to it for help.
"If anything is required of Azerbaijan… we are ready to make our contribution and provide support," Hajiyev emphasized.
