Ukraine attacked Moscow with hundreds of drones

Ukraine carried out the largest drone attack on Moscow since the start of the war.

Since Saturday, Russian air defense forces have shot down more than 1,600 Ukrainian drones, about 450 of which were heading toward Moscow, said the mayor of the Russian capital, Sergei Sobyanin.

Several drones reached the territory of the Moscow Oil Refinery, and another hit a residential building. Reuters reports that its correspondents heard explosions and saw smoke over the refinery's territory. The extent of the damage to the plant has not yet been established.

Two people were killed in the Moscow region. In the Ramensky district, after drone strikes, about 400 people, including 70 children, were evacuated from a 21-story residential building. Several buildings were damaged.

The attack took place on the last day of parliamentary elections in Russia. Sobyanin said its goal was to disrupt the voting. Ukraine has not yet commented on what happened.
