Timeframe announced for the start of work of the new convocation of Russia's State Duma

The first plenary session of the ninth convocation of the State Duma will take place before October 19, most likely in the first half of the month.

Andrei Kuznetsov, first deputy chairman of the State Duma Commission on Regulations, told TASS about this.

"The first session of the State Duma of the ninth convocation must take place on the thirtieth day after the election, that is, on October 19. However, the president of the Russian Federation may, by his decree, convene a session of the State Duma earlier than this date, as has already happened in previous years. In practice, this is one of the days in the first half of October," Kuznetsov said.

According to him, the elected deputies of the State Duma of the ninth convocation will receive their deputy badges along with their credentials in the period between the announcement of the election results and the first plenary session.

In 2021, when the elections were held on September 17-19, the first session of the State Duma took place on October 12.

On the single voting day from September 18 to 20, elections of deputies of the State Duma of the ninth convocation were held.

Ten parties were included in the pre-election lists for the federal electoral district: United Russia, the Communist Party of the Russian Federation, the Liberal Democratic Party of Russia, New People, A Just Russia, the Russian Party of Pensioners for Social Justice, Communists of Russia, Rodina, the Russian Ecological Party "The Greens" and the Party of Direct Democracy.

Elections to the legislative assemblies of 39 regions were held at the same time, as well as elections of the highest officials of the constituent entities of the Russian Federation: direct elections in 8 regions and, in 3, through election by regional parliaments. In total, about 23,000 mandates are to be filled.
