U.S. denies entry to Iranian journalists for UN General Assembly

U.S. authorities did not issue visas to Iranian journalists from the press pool of Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian to take part in covering the session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.

This was reported by the spokesman for the Islamic republic's Foreign Ministry, Esmail Baghaei, who accused Washington of attempting to hide the truth and trample on the right to freedom of speech, TASS reports.

"When an administration slams the doors — even on American journalists it dislikes for one reason or another — and blocks access to foreign reporters, including the media group of the President of Iran, whose voices it would prefer to silence, it is not managing access, it is trying to hide the truth and further advance its disinformation campaign, trampling on the right of access to information," he wrote on X.

Baghaei noted that it is precisely the country that takes pride in supposedly having torn down the "Iron Curtain" that now finds itself behind one.
