Britain launches heavy torpedo from an underwater drone for the first time

The United Kingdom has for the first time launched a heavy torpedo from an unmanned underwater vehicle.

As British media reported earlier, the drone, with a displacement of about 19 tons, is capable of covering up to 1,000 nautical miles and remaining underwater autonomously for up to five days. It was built in Plymouth.

The torpedo, whose characteristics are not given, was developed by the United States and Australia and is designed to destroy ships and submarines.
