Media: Russia is dissatisfied with its ambassador to Armenia and is preparing a replacement

Diplomatic circles have resumed discussions about the possible resignation of Russia's ambassador to Armenia, Sergey Kopyrkin, Hraparak reports.

According to the newspaper's sources, the Russian side is already searching for candidates for the post, expecting to complete the rotation process before January.

"Kopyrkin, who has held the position since April 2018, is assessed by observers in Yerevan and Moscow as one of the least effective heads of the Russian diplomatic mission in the history of bilateral relations. The main complaint about the diplomat's work is cited as his inability to build a constructive dialogue with the current authorities of Armenia. In addition, the embassy has failed to establish systematic interaction even with traditionally pro-Russian political and public circles of the republic, which, according to experts, has further fueled the growth of anti-Russian sentiment in the country.

The change of the diplomatic representative is also being considered in the context of the principle of reciprocity: earlier, Yerevan replaced its ambassador to Russia. Given that Sergey Kopyrkin has been heading the embassy for a seventh year now, Moscow expects to renew the leadership of the diplomatic mission in the coming months," the publication writes.
