Pashinyan cannot do without the Russian language - Putin's adviser
The interest of Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan in the Russian language cannot but bring joy, said Elena Yampolskaya, adviser to the president of the Russian Federation.
She noted that the Moscow House in Yerevan this week announced free Russian language courses that will begin next week, and expressed confidence that «many Armenian citizens will want to attend them.»
«By the way, at the end of last week the prime minister of Armenia made an admission about the Russian language, saying that he is now taking Russian lessons. Such interest, in general, cannot but bring joy, although the statement is unexpected, considering that at the recent SCO summit Nikol Pashinyan was the only one among the leaders of the CIS member states who did not speak in Russian,» Yampolskaya said.
«But apparently, he too cannot do without Russian after all,» the presidential adviser concluded.
On September 17, at a meeting of the Armenian government, Pashinyan stated that he attends Russian language classes at the academy of management.
On September 1, at the SCO+ summit in Bishkek, the prime minister of Armenia for the first time spoke in Armenian at an event of this kind. Russian presidential aide Yuri Ushakov later called such a decision by Pashinyan strange.
