At NATO exercises, one Italian armored vehicle fired on another: four servicemen wounded

Four Italian servicemen were injured in Latvia during NATO exercises, Sky Tg24 reports.

The incident occurred at the training ground in Adazi during live-fire exercises as part of the NATO Forward Land Forces (FLF) mission.

According to Italian media, servicemen of the 11th Bersaglieri Regiment were in one of the military vehicles when a shot was fired at it from a weapon mounted on another Italian military vehicle.

All four of the injured were promptly taken to a medical facility in Riga. One of the servicemen sustained more serious injuries, but his condition is assessed as stable. According to the Italian side, none of the injured are in life-threatening condition.

According to sources, during the exercises a burst of machine-gun fire was accidentally discharged from one of the Dardo armored vehicles at another vehicle of the same type that was moving ahead of it. At the moment of the shooting, its rear hatch was open, presumably because the servicemen were preparing to leave the vehicle.
