The Media and Broadcasting Council voiced concern over a campaign against the country in Turkish media
Azerbaijan's Media and Broadcasting Council has issued an official statement in connection with the increase in materials directed against Azerbaijan in Turkey's media space and social networks.
As 1news.az reports, the statement emphasizes that lately unfounded and biased claims that go beyond legal, diplomatic, and ethical norms have been spreading on a massive scale in the Turkish information segment. The agency noted that such actions are aimed at damaging the fraternal relations between the two countries and shaping negative public opinion.
The statement points out that systematic slanderous campaigns and the unpunished dissemination of disinformation are deeply regrettable, especially against the backdrop of the high level of mutual trust and alliance between Baku and Ankara. The Council is convinced that these publications are not random initiatives of individual users, but represent a coordinated campaign directed from certain circles. Such actions not only violate ethical standards but also contradict the legislation of the Republic of Türkiye itself, and in this regard the Azerbaijani side expects the consistent application of the laws and an appropriate response from the Turkish authorities.
The Azerbaijani side continues to closely monitor the development of the situation in Turkey's media field. The agency does not rule out taking measures provided for by law against persons involved in the organizational and executive activity within the framework of the information campaign. One of the possible legal measures under consideration is restricting entry into the territory of Azerbaijan for the organizers and active participants of these campaigns. The country's public expects practical steps from the relevant structures to halt any attempts to undermine the historical and strategic ties between the two fraternal peoples.
