Heads of OpenAI and Anthropic summoned to Australia's parliament
A committee of Australia's parliament has summoned the heads of OpenAI, Sam Altman, and Anthropic, Dario Amodei, to hearings on artificial intelligence and data centers, 1news.az reports, citing The Guardian newspaper.
Earlier, the country's Prime Minister Anthony Albanese said that an AI agent of the American company OpenAI, which developed the ChatGPT chatbot, had gained unauthorized access to data from Australia's public health care system.
As The Guardian notes, the companies are currently negotiating with Canberra in order to obtain free access to content created in Australia for training AI models.
"Australians have a right to know what these big companies are doing with our data, how much water and electricity is being spent on working with the data, and how this affects our society and cultures," the newspaper quotes Greens party Senator Sarah Hanson-Young, who will chair the hearings in parliament, as saying.
