Almaty shaken again

An earthquake was recorded in Almaty on Monday morning, the Emergency Situations Ministry of Kazakhstan reports.

According to preliminary information, the seismic event occurred in the city. Information on whether the tremors were felt was being verified.

Meanwhile, residents of Almaty reported noticeable tremors, left buildings and went out into the streets.

A few hours later, the city was shaken again, with the second tremor proving to be stronger. National alerts were sent to residents' phones. The message asked people to remain in open spaces until further notice.

Those who were inside buildings were urged to remain calm and inform their loved ones of their whereabouts. Residents were also asked to contact the Emergency Situations Department if they noticed damage to buildings or fires.

Official information about the second tremor is still being clarified. In one video, schoolchildren ran out of a building into the street. Other residents filmed chandeliers swaying in their apartments.
