50 foreigners detained in Georgia, including citizens of Azerbaijan
In Georgia, 50 foreign citizens who were in the country without legal grounds were detained as part of immigration checks.
Among them are citizens of Azerbaijan.
As 1news.az reports, citing Report, this was stated by the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia.
The checks were carried out by officers of the Migration Department throughout the country. Among those detained are citizens of Nigeria, Afghanistan, Azerbaijan, Iran, China, Thailand, Russia, India, Iraq, Turkmenistan, and Egypt.
According to the agency, the detainees violated the requirements of Georgian legislation regulating the legal status of foreign citizens and stateless persons.
The foreigners are currently in the temporary detention center of the Migration Department. Procedures provided for by law are being carried out in their regard, after the completion of which they are planned to be expelled from Georgia.
