Czechia may withdraw from participation in Eurovision 2027 - VIDEO
Czechia may not take part in Eurovision 2027 due to the financial difficulties of Czech Television (ČT).
As the Czech outlet Aktuálně.cz reports, participation in the international song contest may be excluded from the list of projects under the public broadcaster's cost-cutting program.
According to the report, starting in 2027 ČT plans large-scale cost-cutting measures, including staff reductions, as well as the cancellation or reduction in the production volume of a number of television programs. Projects in the news, children's, and entertainment categories may face cuts.
Eurovision also ended up among the entertainment projects that may be cut under the new financial plan. This decision was criticized by former ČT Director General Jan Souček.
At the same time, there is still no official confirmation of Czechia's withdrawal from Eurovision 2027 - if the withdrawal is officially confirmed, Czechia will miss the contest after having participated in it since 2015. In 2026, the country was represented by Daniel Žižka with the song "Crossroads."
