Pashinyan: Armenia does not intend to intensify work in CSTO

Armenia does not plan to intensify its participation in the CSTO.

Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated this during a press conference.

"In our pre-election program, it is clearly stated that we will not take measures to intensify work in the CSTO," he noted, emphasizing that there is no talk of "unfreezing" cooperation.

Speaking about a possible withdrawal from the organization, Pashinyan said that a final decision on this issue has not been made and will depend on the further development of the situation.

On April 1, during a meeting in Moscow, Russian President Vladimir Putin and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan exchanged views on Yerevan's relations with the CSTO.

Putin stated that in the matter of Armenia's claims to the organization, "it is necessary to put an end to it."

In response, Nikol Pashinyan noted that Armenia has effectively suspended participation in CSTO events, as the authorities cannot explain to the public why the organization did not respond to the events of 2022 in accordance with its obligations.
