Hezbollah leader calls on Lebanon to stop direct negotiations with Israel

The General Secretary of the Shia movement Hezbollah, Sheikh Naim Qassem, has called on the Lebanese government to cease direct negotiations with Israel. The text of the statement was published on the movement's Telegram channel.

"The duty [of the authorities] is to stop direct negotiations with the Israeli enemy and switch to indirect [negotiations]," Qassem emphasized.

He also noted that the Lebanese government should return to national dialogue and repeal the decision banning the armed wing of the Shia organization Hezbollah, which opposes Israeli aggression.

"The authorities must prioritize national interests above all and repeal the shameful decision of March 2, which outlaws Hezbollah fighters," the Shia politician stressed. He urged the government to engage in dialogue aimed at internal consolidation to resist the American-Israeli conspiracy.

Qassem also stated that the movement will not relinquish its right to "self-defense and the use of weapons against Israel."
