UAE will not increase oil production after leaving OPEC
The United Arab Emirates (UAE) will not increase oil production after leaving OPEC and OPEC+.
This was stated by UAE Minister of Energy and Infrastructure Suhail Al Mazrouei during an interview on CNBC.
"This decision was not made to increase production. It is a political decision made at the right time for all producers. Will we increase production starting tomorrow? No," he said.
Al Mazrouei added that the UAE will remain a "responsible producer."
Earlier, the Emirati state news agency WAM reported that the UAE has decided to withdraw from OPEC and OPEC+ effective May 1, 2026. At the same time, the UAE affirmed its commitment to stabilizing the global fuel market. Their oil production policy will take into account global supply and demand, as stated in the WAM publication.
