USA announces deployment of 15,000 troops for Operation Project Freedom

About 15,000 American troops, missile destroyers, and over 100 aircraft will be deployed in Operation Project Freedom to escort ships trapped in the Strait of Hormuz due to the military conflict.

This was reported by the U.S. Central Command.

"U.S. military support for Project Freedom will include missile destroyers, over 100 land- and sea-based aircraft, various unmanned platforms, and 15,000 service members," the command stated in a message on X.

Earlier, Donald Trump announced that the U.S. would begin the operation on the morning of May 4, Middle Eastern time. According to the American leader, the operation will focus on the safe evacuation of ships from the Strait of Hormuz. The U.S. President also stated that "if this humanitarian process faces any interference, unfortunately, such interference will have to be met with the use of force."
