Spanish prime minister's plane, en route to Yerevan, makes emergency landing in Ankara

Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez, who was traveling from Madrid to Yerevan for a meeting of the European Political Community, made an emergency landing in Ankara yesterday due to a technical malfunction of the aircraft.

According to the official Spanish news agency EFE, the Airbus A310 aircraft carrying Sánchez to the European Political Community meeting was forced to make an emergency landing in Ankara for technical reasons.

Sánchez spent the night in Ankara and will depart for Yerevan this morning.

Previously, on September 4, 2025, Pedro Sánchez was also unable to attend a meeting on Ukraine in Paris due to a plane breakdown. At that time, the Falcon aircraft had to return to Madrid, and Sánchez participated in the meeting via video call.
