Iran warns of forceful stopping of vessels in Strait of Hormuz
All vessels refusing to follow Iranian instructions for passage through the Strait of Hormuz will be stopped with the use of force.
This was stated by Hossein Mohebi, a representative of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC, elite units of Iran's Armed Forces).
"Any actions contrary to the principles announced by the IRGC Navy will entail serious risks. Vessels violating the rules will be stopped with the use of force," Mohebi's words were reported by the Tasnim news agency. He emphasized that all shipping companies and transport insurance organizations must pay attention to IRGC notifications.
On May 3, U.S. leader Donald Trump announced that on Monday morning, Middle Eastern time, the United States will launch Operation Project Freedom to escort vessels trapped in the region due to the military conflict through the Strait of Hormuz. According to Trump, the operation will focus on the safe withdrawal of vessels from the Strait of Hormuz. The President also threatened to respond with force "if this humanitarian process is subjected to any interference."
