Macron praises Pashinyan: Eight years ago, no one would have come here
French President Emmanuel Macron, during a panel discussion at the VIII Summit of the European Political Community, highly praised the work of Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.
“By the way, I believe that Nikol Pashinyan’s work in Armenia in recent years is very impressive. Let’s be honest, eight years ago, no one would have come here. And the fact that there are so many visits to your country today is a good sign,” Macron said, as reported by ‘Armenpress’.
According to Macron, in the past, several countries viewed Armenia differently. “Eight years ago, many countries at this table considered this country a true satellite of Russia. Nikol Pashinyan carried out the Velvet Revolution and decided to protect his country from Russia. And because of this, he has faced and continues to face daily attacks,” the French President noted.
He also emphasized Armenia’s European choice. “The fact that he made a decision for peace and Europe is a very strong signal,” Macron said.
The French President added that the war of resistance in Ukraine, Armenia’s strategy, and the steps taken in Moldova reflect a common European direction for these countries. “In recent years, we Europeans have decided to express a shared concern and not depend on any great power. And this is also one of the important prerequisites for strategic autonomy,” Macron stressed.
