Bahrain puts its armed forces on high alert
The armed forces of Bahrain have been placed on high alert. This was announced in a statement by the command of the kingdom's defense forces.
"The General Command of the Bahrain Defense Force confirms that all military units and types of weaponry are in the highest state of readiness," the military statement said, as reported by the Bahrain News Agency. The Bahrain Defense Force Command urged citizens and residents of the country to exercise maximum vigilance and to avoid approaching or touching any suspicious objects that may be debris from intercepted Iranian aerial targets.
The statement from the Bahraini military follows strikes by Iran on targets in the United Arab Emirates. On May 4, Emirati military officials reported the interception of 12 ballistic missiles, three cruise missiles, and four unmanned aerial vehicles launched from Iranian territory. As a result of a drone strike on an oil complex in the emirate of Al-Fujairah, three Indian citizens sustained injuries of moderate severity. Meanwhile, Iran's state television and radio company reported, citing a senior military source, that Tehran "had no plans and has no plans to attack the UAE."
