Pakistan's Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif has expressed gratitude to U.S. President Donald Trump for suspending Project Freedom in the Strait of Hormuz.
“I am grateful to President Donald Trump for his bold leadership and timely announcement of the suspension of Project Freedom in the Strait of Hormuz,” wrote the Pakistani Prime Minister on his account on the social media platform X.
According to him, President Trump’s positive response to the request from Pakistan and other countries, particularly Saudi Arabia, will contribute to strengthening regional peace, stability, and reconciliation during this sensitive period.
“Pakistan remains firmly committed to supporting all efforts aimed at restraint and peaceful conflict resolution through dialogue and diplomacy. We are very hopeful that the current momentum will lead to a long-term agreement ensuring sustainable peace and stability in the region and beyond,” Sharif noted.
The U.S. administration decided to suspend the Project Freedom operation, which organizes the transit of vessels through the Strait of Hormuz, until information is received that negotiations on a deal with Iran can be successfully concluded and an agreement reached. This was announced by U.S. President Donald Trump on the social media platform Truth Social.
According to him, the U.S. received a corresponding request from Pakistan and other countries.
